01— Method

How to check a product page for 3D and AR

Read the page’s HTML for a 3D viewer, AR files and product data, then test it on a phone. Five steps, and what this tool does with each.

  1. 01Read the page source

Open the page’s source (Ctrl+U, or Option+Cmd+U on a Mac) and search it. The source is what many crawlers and AI assistants read, since they do not run the page’s scripts.

This tool: fetches the HTML once, from our server, without running any script.

  2. 02Look for a 3D viewer

A <model-viewer> tag, a three.js or Babylon.js script, an embed from Sketchfab, Threekit, Zakeke, ShapeDiver, Vectary or Expivi, or links to .glb and .gltf model files.

This tool: checks the HTML for each of them.

  3. 03Look for AR

AR on an iPhone needs a .usdz file or an AR Quick Look link (rel="ar"); model-viewer switches AR on with its ar attribute; Android phones open Scene Viewer.

This tool: checks the HTML for all four.

  4. 04Check the product data

Product structured data (JSON-LD) with an offer and a price is how search engines and AI assistants read what a page sells, and for how much.

This tool: reads every JSON-LD block and reports the product’s name, price, currency and availability.

  5. 05Test it on a phone

Open the page on an iPhone and an Android phone: does the 3D load, does the AR button appear, and how long does it take on mobile data?

This tool: not done. It does not load the viewer; it reports the HTML’s size and how fast the server answered.

02— The report

What it checks

Six things a buyer, a search engine or an AI assistant gets from the page’s HTML, before any script runs.

3D viewer
model-viewer, three.js, Babylon.js, and embeds from Sketchfab, Threekit, Zakeke, ShapeDiver, Vectary and Expivi, in the page’s script, iframe and link URLs, plus links to .glb and .gltf files.
AR
model-viewer’s ar or ios-src attribute, links to .usdz files, AR Quick Look links (rel="ar") and Android Scene Viewer links.
Product images
How many images the Product schema lists, and how many <img> tags the HTML has (logos and icons included).
Product schema
Whether a JSON-LD block describes a Product, and the name, price, currency and availability its offer states.
Page weight
The size of the HTML document itself, decompressed. Images, scripts and fonts the page loads are not fetched, so they are not counted.
Server response time
The time to the first byte of the page’s answer, measured from our server, so it also depends on how far the site is from us.

03— FAQ

Questions about the product page 3D & AR audit.

What it reads, what it cannot see, and what happens to the page.

No. The audit reads the page’s HTML without running its scripts. A viewer that a script adds after the page loads does not show up there, which is why every result says “not found in the HTML” and never “you have no 3D”. It is also what many crawlers and AI assistants see.

Our server fetches that one page’s HTML, reads it and drops it. It does not load the page’s images, scripts or other pages, and it does not store the HTML. We keep the domain you audited, the day and the one-line result, so we can see which companies use the tool. Your IP address is used only to enforce the usage limits, and the daily count keeps it hashed.

Yes, it is free, with no sign-up and no email. Each connection can run 10 audits a day, and the tool has a daily limit for everyone together, because every audit is a request from our server.

Public pages served over http or https as HTML, that answer within 5 seconds with at most 3 redirects. Only the first 2 MB of HTML is read. Pages behind a login or on a private network cannot be checked, and some sites block automated visits; the audit then says so instead of guessing.

Page weight is the size of the HTML document alone, after decompression, not the images, scripts or fonts it loads. Response time is the time to the first byte of the page’s answer, measured from our server, so a site hosted far from us looks slower than it is for nearby buyers.

No. It reports the price the Product schema states. It does not compare it with the price shown on the page, or check each variant.

It is what a configurator build adds that the audit did not find in the HTML: a 3D view, AR, options with a live price, and product data search engines can read. Whether that is worth it for your products is a question for a call, not for a tool.
